Top 10 Travel Photos 2012/2013

After being back in Perth eight months, it's really hard not to get itchy feet, especially working in the travel industry. So I've become a little nostalgic and decided to share my top 10 travel photos from the past two years.

I truly believe that travelling is the best thing you can do for yourself. It opens your eyes to all the different ways of living that this beautiful world has to offer. It's such a big world out there, and there's so much to see, and being able to capture it on camera, and take a piece of it home with me, is the best thing in the world!

In no particular order...(I couldn't choose!!)

1. This photo was taken in April 2012 on my first trip to Kuala Lumpar. It is the view from our hotel room, and me looking out on the city that never ends.

2. This one was also from my first trip to Kuala Lumpar in April 2012. It was taken in China Town, where I did a lot of people watching, and this is I captured. I love the sense of movement in this photograph.

3. This one was taken in Kota Kinabalu in April 2012. The boats there are all so colourful, just like the people. We hopped on one of these and sped over to Sapi Island for a day of snorkelling, it was a little piece of paradise!

4. I love this one! It was also taken on my trip to Kota Kinabalu in April 2012. It was taken when my family and I went up to an orangutang rehabilitation centre, right up in the mountains, where they raise baby oranguatangs who have lost their homes due to deforestation. It's an amazing place in the rainforest, where the public don't actually interact with the orangutangs, but just watch them live, just how they would in the wild.

5. This one is definitely in my top two! It was taken when I was living up in Karratha in July/August 2012, at the rubbish tip where I worked. It's the magical sunrise of the Pilbara sky.

6. Red Dog Gorge, Karratha! This one is also from August 2012, taken at Red Dog Gorge, a natural water hole in the National Park, hidden beyond the train tracks. It is just such a magical place!

7. Hosier Lane, Melbourne, September 2012. I have a fascination with street art, and this is the place for it!!

8. This one warms my heart! I love elephants, they're such gentle giants. This was taken at the Bali Elephant Safari Park, in April 2012.

9. This is my favourite, for the time being (it changes daily). This was from my amazing trip to the Daintree Rainforest in April 2013. I went on a work trip to Cairns, where we got to do an awesome tour right up into the rainforest. The landscape is just so different from Perth. It's so green and hilly, full of beautiful, lush rainforest, right out to the waters edge!

10. Finally!! Number 10 (in no particular order)! This is from my trip to Cairns in April 2013 where I got to snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef.

All I can say, is PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, TRAVEL. There's a whole world out there, and it would be a shame not to see it, don't let yourself be one of those people who wishes they did.

iPhone Adventures, April 2013.

Above are a couple of photos taken on my trusty iPhone 5 from my cheeky adventures in April. The first few are from my trip to Cairns in early April, where I snorkelled on the Great Barrier Reef, explored the Daintree Rainforset and visited Cape Tribulation! The next is a sneaky photo I took at Cirque Du Soleil's Ovo which I saw today (amazing!!). The last photo was taken up at Araluen Golf Resort in the the Perth hills, the perfect spot to enjoy a cheeky pint and listen to some sweet music on a Sunday afternoon!

The Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, April 2013.

Above are some photos I took just over a week ago, when I was lucky enough to snorkel the amazing Great Barrier Reef! I'm not sure if people realise just how big it actually is, and that is actually stretches along most of Queensland's coast. The reef we went to was called Moore Reef.

We did a tour with a company called Quicksilver, who took us over to Green Island where we did some snorkelling off the beach, and then we popped back on the boat which took us out to a pontoon on Moore Reef, where we had lunch, took a ride in a semi submerged submarine, and then got in the water for some serious snorkelling!

I was lucky enough to visit Cairns on a work trip. I guess being a travel agent has its perks. It's such an awesome little town, full of tourists, all ready for a good time. I would definitely reccommend a visit!

The Daintree Rainforest, April 2013.

These are a few photos from my weekend work trip to Cairns, in Far North Queensland. We did a day tour that took us up along the coast from Cairns to Port Douglas, and then up to Mossman Gorge, where we learnt about traditional Aboriginal smoke rituals. We then went up to Cape Tribulation beach. It is absolutely amazing up there, seeing the rainforest meet the ocean was incredible, and it's something we don't get to see in Perth. It's magical! I'll definitely be back there soon.

iPhone Adventures, March 2013.

Above are a couple of photos taken on my iPhone from my Adventures in March. The first is of a cute little cafe in Warwick, next to the cinemas that makes really good frozen yogurt. The second was taken at Serpentine Falls in the Perth Hills, which is amazing! It's definetely worth a visit. The third is just some kooky editing I did on my iPhone. The fourth is from a few weekends ago when my friend Hannah and I went kayaking in Moore River. The fifth, finally, was taken at Burns Beach. It has become my favourite thinking place, and the colours of the rocks are so beautiful, I just thought I'd share.

The Beautiful People, Part II

Above is the second part of a series I have been working on over the past month. They are all portraits of my friends, except for the cheeky one of Lara Bingle. They are all done with ball point pen and watercolours, and at the bottom is a little bit digital art, all done on my iPhone. This is the start of many more to come. Enjoy, and feel free to share your thoughts.
